Advice Columns
I love reading advice columns - I really do! Not because I enjoy the horror stories that are some people's lives, but because I get a kick out of the advice given. Dear Abby and Ann Landers were the staples when I was growing up. Now that they have passed, their daughters are doing a great job of filling their shoes - with enough of their own personalities that it's not like they're clones. (Although Dear Abby II did have me a bit concerned for awhile. Her style was eerily similar to her mother's.)
Today, while catching up with Dear Margo, Ann Landers' daughter, I found an advice column on Creators Syndicate called The Advice Goddess by Amy Alkon. If you have never read her column, you have got to take a look! She is absolutely fabulous - smart, sassy, occasionally snotty, honest to a fault, and a pure joy to read.
Her advice is spot-on, but at the same time - I don't think I've ever laughed so hard over a non-humor column.
