Random Musings of a Curious Mind

Freeze It

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the face of pain.

I, as you can imagine, have been spending a great deal of time at the hospital lately. Well, just in case you were wondering, there are very few comfortable chairs in or around ICU for a tall person. My back, bad to begin with, is killing me. Or at least it was.

For the first time, I tried this terrific product called Freeze It.

It's a cooling pain relief gel that you just rub in, wherever you hurt. Made from camphor and menthol, Freeze It also includes an herbal extract that helps enhance the effects of the pain relievers. Vitamin E and aloe make it kind to your skin. I have very sensitive skin, so that's really important to me.

At first I was a little concerned, because it has a very strong smell. I was also worried, having tried similar products before, that it would be uncomfortably cool. There is nothing worse than applying something to ease your pain, only to be forced to run to the bathroom to wash it off because it was more uncomfortable than the pain it was supposed to alleviate. Trust me - been there, done that!

Turns out, I had nothing to worry about. The scent dissipates very quickly and the cooling sensation is absolutely heavenly. In what seemed like a heartbeat, the pain in my lower back eased. After about 10 minutes, it was gone. When I touched my lower back, the muscles actually felt relaxed.

Now that I've tried it, I would never use anything else, regardless of the price. Amazingly, Freeze It is actually less expensive than similar products. I only wish I'd had it in the house last week when I wrenched my back and spent about 24 hours unable to move, like a turtle someone had flipped over on its back.

Oh, by the way, it also worked wonders for my (constantly) sore shoulders.
