Random Musings of a Curious Mind

Good News From the Hospital

I have been sleeping as much as possible over the last few days, trying to ignore the pain in my knee. While I still don't have the Vicodin I was prescribed, I found some Tylenol 3s that are pretty good at knocking me out. Consequently, at 9:16pm, when the nurse called from SICU, I was sound asleep. About 10:22pm, I woke up and noticed a missed call on my phone from the VA. Without even checking voice mail, I called the hospital.

Crossing my fingers, I said a quick prayer that everything was still ok. With all of the medications he's on, I knew Mark would be asleep, and he was. What I didn't know, however - Mark is off the ventilator and doing really well! Hooray!! He's talking to the nurses and, not surprisingly, doesn't remember much of what happened to him in the last 10 days.

Now, I can't wait to talk to him later this morning, and it's driving me crazy that I can't get to the hospital. Just as soon as I talk to him, I'll let everyone know (by email) how he's doing.

Please say a prayer of thanks that he's coming through this! It was so touch and go, up until yesterday, that I didn't dare hope.
