Lung Cancer Update
For those of you who have been following the posts about Mark's lung cancer, I just wanted to let you know that he had surgery yesterday. It was a very long day, to say the least.
Mark is doing very well. Obviously, he's in a great deal of pain, but when I spoke to him this morning, he sounded great. We were told that he would probably be in ICU for about 10 days and that it will take him several months to fully recover. At some point in the process, he'll have 4-6 months of chemotherapy, to ensure that the cancer is completely gone.
Due to the location of the lesion, the doctors had to take about 3/4 of the lung, instead of 1/2, as they had expected. I don't know how that will change the amount of time in the hospital or the length of his recovery period. Undoubtedly, it will all depend on Mark's ability to heal.
It's still very early, less than one day since he came out of surgery, so anything is possible. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
