Random Musings of a Curious Mind

Another Huge Toy Recall

Once again, toys made in China are being recalled due to excessive levels of lead in their paint. Am I the only one thinking that it's time to ban these imports? Unless and until testing starts happening before these things hit store shelves, I'd be quite happy to have China just keep them.

Items involved in this recall include:
  • Baby Einstein color blocks;
  • Pirates of the Caribbean squeeze lights;
  • Totally Me! room decor kits;
  • Pull-Along blocks and wagons;
  • Frankenstein-head plastic cups;
  • Keychains with metal, engraved charms
  • Bookmarks and journals with decorations ranging from breast cancer awareness to Winnie the Pooh.
Many of these items have been for sale since 2005 and some were still available, online or in stores, as recently as this month. Very, very frightening. I can't imagine what it must be like to be a parent these days, not knowing if you're giving your kids toys that may be slowly and irreversibly damaging their health.
