Not In My Cart!
Just yesterday, I received a notice from Consumers Union announcing the launch of their new campaign - Not In My Cart.org, designed to give a voice to consumers who are, justifiably, concerned about the quality of the products on their store shelves. As you probably know, more than 12 million children's toys have already been recalled this year. Last week, J.C. Penney issued a recall of Winnie the Pooh toys for excess lead levels, and the Cub Scouts pulled a lead-laden merit badge.
If you're interested in keeping these dangerous, deadly products out of the US marketplace, visit Not In My Cart.org and send a letter to Congress. Tell legislators that it's time to take decisive action to protect Americans from contaminated pet food, toxic toothpaste, lead-laden toys, hazardous tires, contaminated seafood, and unsafe electrical items. With the holidays just weeks away, consumers will soon be buying millions gifts and toys, as well as food and beverages for seasonal get-togethers.
It's time for manufacturers, importers, and retailers to step up to the plate and make sure that American consumers are safe - during the holiday season and beyond.
