National Memory Screening Day
This collaborative event is part of the ongoing national effort to promote early detection of Alzheimer's disease and related illnesses. Memory screenings are an important first step toward early detection and appropriate intervention, including medical treatments, social services, and other resources. They are not solely for those who are concerned about recent memory changes, but for anyone who would like to determine their current score as a basis for comparison in the future.Screening sites have been established throughout the United States, making it simple to find a convenient location and time. Don't wait. Mark your calendar - November 13, 2007 - and choose the site that works best for you. Like watching your blood pressure and cholesterol or regular exercise and a healthy diet, this is just one more tool to help maintain a lifestyle that promotes Successful Aging.
Without a doubt, seeking a cure to Alzheimer's is important. However, we must not overlook the need for continuing quality care for those who suffer from this disease. Please contribute to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America and come "Together for Care . . . in addition to Cure."
