Reusable Totes
Rather than choose paper or plastic, why not carry one of these custom-designed totes?
I don't drive to any of the stores within about a 1/4 mile of our apartment - it's just more practical and logical to walk - so, I have a couple of totes for these quick trips. Not only am I not adding to the local landfill, it's actually a lot easier for me to carry everything home.
These totes are great, no matter what store you're going to. So many places - discount and grocery stores, for example - offer self-serve check-out lanes. Why not carry a canvas tote, rather than packing those few items into something that you're just going to throw away when you get home?
