Think Green!

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is encouraging residents to make 'green' resolutions for the New Year and is posting green tips every week on their website. Although aimed at citizens of the Sunshine State, these great ideas will work no matter where you live.

• Change your incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescent ones to save energy;
• Eliminate paper waste by recycling to save trees and water;
• Use your computer's sleep mode, instead of the screen saver to cut energy use by 60 to 70 percent;
• Purchase reusable shopping bags to keep plastic and paper bags out of landfills;
• Use 'green' cleaners to keep dangerous chemicals out your home and your local water supply.
