Random Musings of a Curious Mind

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe.
...But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."

My Kind of News

Now this is the kind of story I love to read: Nevada Dog Finds Her Way Home.

Although I never read the book, by Sheila Burnford, I have always loved the movie "Incredible Journey". In fact, to this day, I can't watch it without crying over those three beautiful souls, doing everything they can to help each other get home to their family.

It's one of the reasons that I get very angry with humans who feel that animals are lesser creatures. How many people do you know who would walk dozens, let alone hundreds, of miles to get back to family? And, even more importantly, without assistance from other humans, how many people would actually make it?

When your animal friends approach you for attention, remember that they may be more loyal than the people in your life. Give them a big hug - then give them another one from me!
