Goin' to a Wedding!
My dress and shoes have arrived! And - joy of joys - my dress fits!
It's
difficult to determine what size is right, when ordering online. Given the
fact that I've put on weight and not gotten in shape, I was terrified to
open that box! As a hedge, I ordered a 'slimmer' when I ordered the dress.
I haven't tried them on together, yet.
Second joy of joys? The
dress is actually long enough that I can wear the heels I ordered. (At
almost 6 feet tall, most of it legs, I have a devil of a time finding
something that covers my ankles!) Not to mention, the area above my waist
is much smaller than the area below my waist. Can you say pear?
Keep
an eye out - I'll be letting you know if the look actually worked.

Pet Supplies
Along with the rising cost of . . . everything, is a rising cost in caring
for our cat, Paka. It's amazing how much prices have increased lately.
The
stores where I usually buy my
pet
supplies now charge 35% to almost 100% more on different items. So,
you know me, I've gone shopping. After all, cat food and litter is not a
luxury item - gotta have 'em every day.
After the scares we had
from the melamine in pet foods, it's difficult to be sure that products
are safe. But that doesn't mean that we need to be held hostage by
manufacturers.
It's possible to find natural, healthy safe foods
out there. Tell the companies that support pet owners how much you
appreciate them, by buying exclusively from them.

North Padre Island
Summer (as in school's out, what do we do with the kid) is upon us.
Michael wants to spend a lot of time with his mom, which is a whole
'nother issue. I've been thinking that maybe Mark and I could get out of
here for a while, by ourselves for a change. So, yup, I've been vacation
shopping.
I'm not really enamored with Texas (humidity, heat, and
bugs), but there are areas along the Gulf Coast that are amazing. So, I
checked out
North Padre Island
rentals. I was quite impressed.
For not a lot of money, it's
possible to rent a nice place (furnished) near the water. It's definitely
an option I'll be considering.

Muscle Growth
I have been lucky throughout my life - when I want to build muscle, I
simply exercise a little bit. Because I've never carried much body fat, it
was easy for me to build visible muscle. Of course, as everyone now knows,
I'm lazy so I don't consistently work out.
For those who are really
looking for
muscle
growth, there are a lot of options out there. The really good ones
explain that you can't pop a couple of pills, sit back, and watch muscles
grow. There has to be a personal commitment and a great deal of effort.
Before
you commit to gaining muscle mass, do some research and choose a product
or company that will really help.

My Baby's Getting Married
It's amazing how emotional one becomes when a child gets married.
Then,
you add in the fact that it's your only daughter and the emotions run
through the roof. (The only thing that would send me higher would be my
son's wedding!) You know - mothers and sons; fathers and daughters.
I
am sooooo happy that she's found a great man!

Natural Acne Treatment
Those of you who have been following this blog, know that I've been trying
to lose weight in anticipation of my daughter's wedding in a few days.
Being naturally lazy, it's been very difficult for me. I have trimmed
down, although I haven't really lost any weight. I can live with that.
Now
that I have a handle on my love handles, Mother Nature decided to slap me
in the face - and across my shoulders - with a new issue --
acne.
Short of wearing a turtle-neck and ski mask, which I don't think will EVER
become standard mother-of-the-bride attire, I am forced to find a way to
clear up this problem.
Luckily, there is a
natural
acne treatment that can not only get rid of breakouts, it can improve
the condition of my skin and make blackheads disappear. And it promises to
work in 24 hours!
Frankly, I love what
isn't in it -
petroleum-based oils, alcohols, harsh preservatives and soaps, and
peroxide - as much as what
is: aloe vera gel, green tea, clay,
glycerin, oatmeal, and avocado - to name just a few. These natural
ingredients provide cleansing, moisturizing, and clarifying, and aren't
going to cause allergic reactions that so many man-made items can.
Just
can't get much better than all natural!

Pet Sitter
I'm in the process of getting ready for my daughter's wedding at the end
of the month.
The dress and shoes are ordered. Hopefully, the sizes
listed on the website are accurate. Now - what do I do with Paka?
He
and Mark don't exactly get along - but they don't always fight. Isn't that
helpful?! NOT!
Under the circumstances, I have to trust that they
won't kill each other.

GonnaBe
There are talent agencies all over the country - good and bad. Some help their clients; some bleed their clients. I, personally, have always wanted an acting career. Could have had one - if I'd been able to act, sing, dance, or any of the above.
Years ago I had a good friend whose children were involved in modeling; she was a working actress. I can still remember the work that went into getting the kids seen and signed by agencies in our state. Mom was amazingly knowledgeable and energetic about getting things done.
Today, I ran across a site that takes a lot of that work out of it.
GonnaBe is designed to provide young artists with resources, services, experience and exposure in order to succeed in the entertainment industry.
GonnaBe offers actors, musicians, dancers, and models more than opportunities to expand their knowledge and talent, it encourages them to reach for the stars in every aspect of their lives.
If your child is interested in an entertainment career, take a look at this site. It's a great place to start.
