Key to Stradivarius Sound

AddThis Social Bookmark Button

This is fascinating!

Researchers have discovered why a Stradivarius violin has such an incredible sound. Little did I know, it's related to the incredibly even density of the wood.

It took a CT scanner, a Dutch doctor, and a violin maker from Arkansas to "crack the mystery" of why a Stradivarius sounds so much better than others. There's no way of knowing what difference the specific woods make, but the researchers are looking at the differences in wood growth today.
