Crocheted in a simple fan-shaped stitch, this Afghan has an open look and light feel, but is still quite warm.

Unlike Block Afghans, which have panels of different sizes and/or stitches or Cozy Afghans, which are crocheted in two-pieces, Banded Afghans are created width first. The pattern of alternating bands is continued until the desired length is reached.

Starting and ending with the primary color, the alternate rows are beautiful in a solid color and even more dramatic with a variegated yarn. Lastly, this Banded Afghan is finished in a narrow border that uses both yarn colors.

Red Heart's "Fiesta" yarns, with the nylon accent thread, their "Super Saver" Variegated Yarns or Caron's "Simply Soft" ombre colors would be perfect, paired with one of the solid colors.
