Ah! What a Beautiful Day!

Having survived the 'vampire time' - summer in southern Arizona, where it's too hot to venture outside before sundown - we are now heading into everyone's favorite season: comfortable. Now, in most parts of the country you have 4 seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. In Arizona, we have 2 basic seasons - miserable and comfortable. Once in a while, Mother Nature throws in chilly as a bonus, but not often enough that it actually warrants mention as a third season.

The way we know that 'comfortable' has arrived is the fresh-air factor, which is really quite simple. If you can open your windows and, this is the important part, leave them open all day - it's 'comfortable'. Occasionally, during the 'miserable' time, there will be an odd morning that is refreshingly comfortable. One might be tempted to open windows at this point. Fatal error!

Before 10:00am, the heat will have risen so dramatically that it will take at least 24 hours to cool the house or apartment back down to a livable temperature. Even when the weatherman claims that the mid-day temperatures are going to be comfortable, don't be fooled. Should the temperature not reach triple digits that day, the humidity will rise to double digits and cancel out any relief from the heat by building the equivalent of a state-wide sauna outside your front door.

Today is the third consecutive day that we have opened our windows and kept them open. A very good sign. Perhaps I'll even walk outside today. Of course, there's always tomorrow - just in case this is a trick!

Snow In Phoenix

Guess what, folks!?

We actually got snowflakes yesterday - in Phoenix! What a pleasant surprise! Okay, not this much snow - but we did see flakes. (Other than the crazy people normally wandering the streets.)

It's nice not freezing to death all winter, like some parts of the country. But having been raised in Colorado, and living in Michigan for 20+ years, I do tend to miss the seasons.

With that said, I do have to lodge a small complaint -- It's Cold!!! I know, Cold is a requirement for snowflakes - but I don't have to like it, now do I?! We've actually got the heat on today - and I had to crawl under the bed to find my fuzzy slippers.

Hope you're all staying nice and warm! For those of you in the Plains states - don't send anymore snow, please. It freaks out the locals!

God Bless!
