A simple pattern, this panel-styled afghan is crocheted lengthwise, from top to bottom. The panels of half-double crochet stitches are separated by narrow panels of open-crochet fan stitches. As the solid panels make up approximately three-quarters (3/4) of the width, larger afghans will have wider open-crochet panels.

Although designed in a solid yarn, this afghan pattern would be beautiful in two colors. Choose your favorite solid color for the main panels, then add one of the Red Heart Super Saver variegated yarns for the open-crochet sections. Or try a variegated for the larger sections, with a complimentary solid for the narrower, open bands.

Other options include all of the Red Heart "Fiesta" yarns, which are woven with a complementary nylon strand and would be an excellent choice for this style. Caron "Simply Soft" also offers three (3) perfect variegated yarn choices - 'Baby Brights Ombre', 'Country Blue Ombre', and a bright 'Embroidery Print'.
